Ford F-150 Safety Review
The 2019 Ford F-150 stands out for towing, hauling, and even off-roading prowess. Some drivers, though, want to hear about another quality: safety behind the wheel.
In this Ford F-150 safety review, we want to help Ocala, Starke, and Gainesville shoppers an overview of safety features and ratings. See this pickup truck’s capability in a whole new way, and contact us at Ford of Ocala if you want to learn more!
F-150 Safety Ratings: IIHS & NHTSA
One great way to evaluate a vehicle’s safety chops is through safety ratings. These ratings, assigned after rigorous batteries of crash tests, reflect the vehicle’s quality of engineering and passive safety features. The 2019 Ford F-150 passes these tests with flying colors.
The F-150 SuperCrew with RWD (the only model that has been fully tested, as of this writing), earned an NHTSA 5-Star Overall Safety Rating. On the frontal and side crash tests, it earned perfect scores of five stars each.
In IIHS testing, the F-150 earned the highest rating of “Good” in all five crash tests. In addition, it earned the organization’s highest rating of “Superior” for front crash prevention. It all adds up to a pickup truck that’s been engineered and equipped for safety from the ground up.
Active Safety: Driver-Assist Features
Want accident prevention and mitigation technology? The Ford F-150 delivers with its Ford CoPilot360™ suite of driver-assist features. These technologies act as an extra pair of eyes on the road—and they can help you respond in challenging driving situations, too. The suite includes:
- Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go
- BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System)
- Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking
- Lane-Keeping System
The cruise control feature lets you set a cruising speed and distance from the vehicle ahead. It will slow you down when needed to keep pace with traffic—even down to a full stop. When traffic starts moving again, the system can resume your set speed with minimal effort on your part.
Cameras: More than Smoke & Mirrors
Mirrors are nice when you need to see what’s happening around you, but cameras are better still. In the Ford F-150, they’re more than just a gimmick: They offer perspectives that go beyond what your eyes can show you.
The standard Rear View Camera includes Dynamic Hitch Assist, a useful feature when towing. It provides a sight line on the screen to help you direct your hitch ball to the trailer tongue. Towing that boat or trailer will be safer and easier than ever.
For panoramic views, the 360-Degree Camera with Split-View Display is a handy available feature. It uses four cameras strategically placed around the vehicle to stitch together a bird’s eye view of your truck and the space around it. In crowded lots or workspaces, it pays to see every angle.
