In this 2020 Shelby GT500 preview, we want to tell you what we know so far about the latest model. See what you can expect from the latest iteration, including its much-anticipated release date! Contact us at Ford of Ocala to learn more.
New Shelby GT500: Specifications
We expect the new Shelby GT500 will be equipped with a supercharged 5.2L V8 engine. This powerhouse of an engine will be mated with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
According to Ford, it will be able to hit 60 MPH in less than 3 seconds—and turn the quarter-mile in less than 11 seconds. How will it hit these targets? The Shelby GT500 should be good for 700+ horsepower, so you can hit supercar-like speeds very quickly.
This performance car will offer adaptive dampers and Brembo® brakes for outstanding stopping power. If you want to add a performance package, you’ll have two options. The Handling package adds adjustable strut top mounts and a spoiler with a Gurney flap. Choose the Carbon Fiber Track package for:
- Exposed 20-inch carbon fiber wheels
- Adjustable carbon fiber track wing
- Splitter wickers with an integrated dive plane
- Removed back seats (to save weight)
Car Interior & Technology Features
The Shelby GT500’s expected tech-heavy cabin will be balanced out by premium materials. From carbon fiber accents across the dashboard to suede door-panel upholstery with contrast stitching, you can expect the best in quality and style.
For infotainment, you can expect to find the latest version of the SYNC® 3 multimedia system. The 8-inch touchscreen will offer easy access to audio, navigation, and more. We expect the vehicle to offer a Bang & Olufsen® sound system with 12 speakers, so you can blast your music as you take on the open roads.
A 12-inch LCD instrument panel will put all your crucial vehicle data in front of you. Customize the screen to show the information that’s most important to you.
Safety Features in the Shelby GT500
Ford has been tight-lipped so far about safety features in the new Shelby GT500. We expect more details to be released later this summer, when Ford reveals the exact performance specs.
The base Ford Mustang is available with rear parking sensors, Adaptive Cruise Control, a BLIS® (Blind Spot Monitoring System), and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Features like these may find their way into the Shelby GT500, too, when it is released.
