Ford of Ocala is giving away the opportunity to 4 lucky winners for a chance to “Swap Your Ride” for one week.

Winners will have the opportunity to set aside their own vehicles and drive a brand new 2010 Ford Fusion for one week. The official drawing will be held on Friday May 7th, 2010, at 1pm.

Once the winners have "Swapped their Rides" for the week, they will be interviewed by Tegan Dover, the Business Development Manager at Ford of Ocala where they can personally tell us about their experiences with the 2010 Ford Fusion. Their stories and testimonials will then be shared with the public and online telling us how they felt about the New 2010 Ford Fusion.

Participants must be 21 or older to enter and will have to show proof of valid driver's license and insurance card. The offer is restricted to residents of Florida. The winners will be contacted via email.

In Loving Memory of Gary L. Scott - Ford of Ocala Vice president

Gary L Scott (1940-2010)
Gary L. Scott, age 69, former Vice President and General Manager of Ford of Ocala, quietly passed away in his home surrounded by his wife and two daughters on Wednesday, April 21, 2010. Gary was born on October 14, 1940 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Jewell Scott and the late John Scott, both of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He moved to Florida in 1961 where he began his longtime career in the automobile industry.

Gary's relationship with Ford Motor Company began in 1961. Over the last fifty years, Gary received numerous awards and accolades from Ford Motor Company. He was President of Ford Motor Company's Jacksonville District Parts and Service Manager's Club for several years. He was also on the Board of Directors for the Parts and Service Manager's Club. He was Vice President, General Manager of Griffin Ford in Frostproof, Florida prior to becoming Vice President, General Manager of Ford of Ocala. He was on the Board of Directors for Marion Technical Institute (M.T.I.) and one of his greatest career achievements was playing an instrumental part in the formation of M.T.I.'s automotive program.

Throughout his life, Gary was a member of many influential organizations. He was Rotary Club President in Frostproof, Florida, member of the Tampa Lions Club and was proud to serve on the Marion County Board of Chamber of Commerce. Gary was also a 32nd Degree Mason. Gary was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Ocala where he was an Elder and served as Chairman of the Pastor Nominating Committee. Anyone acquainted with Gary knew his passion for music and guitars. He was a member of the Praise Team at First Presbyterian Church where he played the guitar each and every Sunday.

Gary is survived by his caring and devoted wife of 41 years, Janie, his eldest daughter and her husband, Stacey and Jim Flemister of Winter Garden, FL; his youngest daughter and her husband, Kari and Scott Reece of Ocala, FL; five grandchildren, Chelsea, Quint, Dixie, Chase, and Ashton; his mother, Jewell Scott and two brothers, Doug and Calvin Scott. He is also survived by his daughter Sherry Lynn Jordan and her daughter Jennifer, as well as 5 nieces and 1 nephew. Gary loved and adored his wife, children and grandchildren. He cherished his companion of nine years, Morgan, their golden retriever. His world revolved around God, his Family and music. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting and fishing.

Visitation will be held Friday from 5-7 PM at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 SE Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at noon on Saturday, April 24, 2010, at First Presbyterian Church 511 SE 3rd St., Ocala, with Dr. Raymond Guterman, Rev. Darren Bess, Dr. Joseph Pickard, and Rev. Sam Harris officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Marion County or First Presbyterian Church of Ocala Praise Team.

Ford's Driving Skills for Life program allows Teens to "Belt it out"!!

Ford of Ocala is pleased to inform you that Ford Driving Skills for Life, an award winning driver's education program developed by Ford Motor Company Fund and the Governors Highway Safety Association have created a "Belt it Out: Sing for Safety" safe driving campaign to encourage teenagers to compose songs with safe driving messages. More than 6,000 youth die in accidents on American roads every year. Ford of Ocala, your neighborhood dealer for new Ford vehicles and used cars, understands that creating awareness on safe driving practices among the youth is the need of the community. The winners of this contest will receive up to $5,000 each. The contest is going on now. For details log on to www.drivingskillsforlife.com. You can select the winners by voting for your favorite songs online till April 30th. The winners will be announced on June 1, 2010.
Ford Driving Skills for Life deals with four key skill areas: speed management, space management, vehicle handling and hazard recognition. The lack of these skills has been quoted by the experts as the major cause of nearly 60 percent of vehicle crashes for newly licensed drivers aged between 16 and 19. Ford Driving Skills for Life has already reached thousands of teenagers online through interactive training and other events across the country and "Belt it Out: Sing for Safety" is a very significant event which engages the teens creatively for a great purpose. Ford of Ocala Sees Big Gains in March!

FORD'S U.S. SALES UP 43 PERCENT IN MARCH; NEW PRODUCTS WITH INDUSTRY-LEADING QUALITY AND FUEL EFFICIENCY NET FIRST QUARTER SALES INCREASE OF 37 PERCENT AND SHARE GAINS

  • Ford, Lincoln and Mercury March sales totaled 178,546, up 43 percent versus year ago


  • Ford brand sales up 46 percent versus year ago, Lincoln up 19 percent and Mercury up 26 percent

  • Cars up 53 percent versus year ago, utilities up 46 percent and trucks up 30 percent; March retail sales up 38 percent; fleet sales up 53 percent

  • Ford, Lincoln and Mercury first quarter sales totaled 428,596, up 37 percent versus year ago

AS one of the Top 100 Ford Dealers Ford Motor Company sends the newest Ford vehicles to Ford of Ocala before other dealers see them. In addition to previewing the vehicle our sales department undergoes training & testing so that we can answer any questions you might have. The 2011 SuperDuty was here February 11, 2011. The Mustang GT 5.0L was here Tuesday but not for training purposes.

Ford of Ocala Is Winning Over New Converts!

FORD IS WINNING MORE NEW CUSTOMERS FROM COMPETING BRANDS, FUELING MARKET SHARE GAINS
  • New trade-in data show Ford is increasingly winning new customers from competing brands, a key reason the company has gained retail U.S. market share for 16 of the past 17 months


  • For the Ford brand, the rate of customers who traded in competitive brand vehicles rose 18 percent from 2005 to 2009. The conquest rate for Lincoln rose 61 percent, while Mercury saw a 12 percent increase


  • The Ford Fusion, Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner Hybrids, as well as Ford Mustang and Lincoln MKX, attracted the highest number of buyers from competing brands.


  • The redesigned Ford Taurus showed the largest increase in attracting new buyers to the Ford brand from 2005 to 2009
